LOS ANGELES (AP) — State investigators repeatedly identified fire and safety hazards at a leased storage space under an elevated Los Angeles freeway before it burned in an arson fire last weekend, documents show. The blaze — fed by flammable materials stored under the roadway in violation of the company’s lease — closed a stretch of Interstate 10 near downtown for days, snarling traffic as repair crews work around the clock to fix it. Officials say all lanes are expected to reopen by Tuesday, far ahead of the initial three-to-five week schedule to shore up the mile-long stretch of roughly 100 support columns. The documents were released by the California Department of Transportation, known as Caltrans, on Friday, a day before investigators said they identified a “person of interest” and released two photos in a “crime alert notification” posted to social media. Authorities said Saturday that they are seeking the public’s help to identify the person. FORT COLLINS — Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi wasn’t just getting outplayed by Brendon Lewis. He somehow found himself getting outgunned.“I don’t lose confidence,” CSU’s redshirt freshman quarterback said of a rocky middle two quarters of a 30-20 win over Nevada on Saturday in the Rams’ regular-season home finale at Canvas Stadium.“There’s no loss of confidence. I really know the player I am, who I can be.”The lithe Texan showed it down the stretch, completing five of his last seven throws in the fourth quarter and using his arm — and legs — to preserve the fourth home victory for the Rams (5-6, 3-4 Mountain West), who can clinch bowl eligibility with a win at Hawaii (4-8, 2-5) next weekend.Fowler-Nicolosi’s afternoon, like the game itself, wasn’t pretty. The CSU signal-caller misfired on 10 of 15 pass attempts in the second and third quarters as a 20-3 Rams lead evaporated into a 23-20 nail-biter to start the fo...Arrest made in 2020 cold-case homicide

After first-day fireworks in the state Senate burned up plans for a three-day legislative special session, day two resembled a return to normalcy for the General Assembly. But it wasn’t quiet. The House started Saturday with a group of pro-Palestine protesters interrupting the chamber’s morning work with calls for lawmakers to denounce Israel’s military campaign and urge a cease-fire. After the group was escorted out, Democratic leaders repeatedly tussled with Republicans who ignored those leaders’ directions to follow House rules. As a result, Democrats refused to recognize one Republican — Colorado Springs Rep. Scott Bottoms — for the rest of the day, meaning he wasn’t able to speak at the chamber’s mic.Gov. Jared Polis called the special session in the aftermath of Proposition HH’s failure this month. The Democratic majority had hoped for a three-day gathering to hammer out some form of property tax relief as well as other proposals they argue will ease the risin...UNLV shuts out Air Force in 2nd half, takes Mountain West lead with 31-27 win

Broncos right tackle Mike McGlinchey is happy to face Minnesota at home on Sunday night, because communication will be essential against the Vikings’ pass rush.Minnesota has the highest blitz percentage in the league (49%) under first-year defensive coordinator Brian Flores. And with the various looks the Vikings present, the Broncos will have their hands full trying to protect quarterback Russell Wilson.“There’s a lot of things you have to be on your keys about,” McGlinchey told The Denver Post. “We have checks and adjustments built-in for quite a bit of plays. It’s about being on the same page.”Head coach Sean Payton said he and the team spent 48 hours studying Minnesota’s pass rush.
