Sean Payton made it clear Wednesday he likes the way his coaching staff is operating through the first three phases of the offseason and this week’s minicamp. The first-year Broncos coach has a mix of veterans and young coaches among his group and two holdovers from 2022 — defensive backs coach Christian Parker and defensive line coach Marcus Dixon.“There’s three or four coaches on this staff and maybe more that will end up being head coaches,” Payton said. “For me, as long as I’ve done this, you want to see those guys have success. I love seeing Dan Campbell and what he’s doing in Detroit, Doug Marrone, Dennis Allen, a number of coaches go on to positions and fulfill their goals.“That’s what we’re trying to do. … I think we have a lot of talent on this staff and it takes that to be successful.”Parker and assistant special teams coach Chris Banjo are among the up-and-comers Payton has already had high praise for — he called Banjo “extremely talented” on Wednesday — and in the past ha...

Davis Webb wanted Broncos QB coach job “really, really bad.” Why? Sean Payton and, yes, Russell Wilson

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 05:09:21 GMT

Davis Webb’s offseason was headed one of two ways.Either Sean Payton would hire him as Denver’s quarterbacks coach or he was going to try to play quarterback again in 2023.Not exactly a traditional fork in the road, mind you, but Webb hoped to make the jump into coaching.“When I interviewed, I told myself, my girlfriend, my family, ‘If I don’t get this job, I’m going to start working out tomorrow,’” he said Wednesday in his first time talking with reporters since landing the job earlier this year. “This was a one-and-done deal. I wanted this job really, really bad and if I got it I was going to roll with it and if I didn’t, I was going to keep playing and be a free agent.”Webb, 28, now finds himself in charge of a room featuring Russell Wilson at the top and Jarrett Stidham in the No. 2 spot. Webb turned down Buffalo’s quarterback coaching job a year ago to play in 2022 back in New York for Giants head coach Brian Daboll, who had been Webb’s offensive coordinator in Buff...

Transgender issue proving costly for Bud Light

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 05:09:21 GMT

After more than two decades as America’s best-selling beer, Bud Light has slipped into second place.Modelo Especial, a Mexican lager, overtook Bud Light in U.S. retail dollar sales in the month ending June 3, according to Nielsen data analyzed by Bump Williams Consulting. Modelo controlled 8.4% of U.S. grocery, convenience and liquor store sales; Bud Light fell to 7.3%. It's a milestone in Bud Light's months-long sales decline since early April, when critics who were angered by the brewer sending a commemorative can to transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney vowed to boycott the brand. Bud Light has also faced backlash from Mulvaney’s fans, who think the brand didn’t do enough to support her.Dave William, Bump Williams’ vice president of analytics and insights, said Bud Light has been the top-selling U.S. beer since 2001, and it could still retain that crown this year.
